HEAToutdoors IN THE LIMELIGHT

"
HEAToutdoors at the Ellerslie Flower Show "

In 2007 HEAToutdoors joined the Landscape Design Team (www.landscapedesign.co.nz) and others to exhibit in the Ellerslie Flower Show.

This exciting project gave us a true sense of achievement and afforded us the opportunity to work with some amazing NZ talent.

The brief of the garden designed was as follows:
To create
a space that would allow a kiwi couple to entertain, refresh and enjoy the good company of friends over an extended summer season. The garden was to have an outdoor entertainment pavilion with a simple relaxed feel and they wanted the planting to contradict both formal and minimalist gardens they have enjoyed in the past.

There was to be strong contrasting colours, species and texture. It needed to have a functional yet simple outdoor kitchen, formal and informal entertaining space.

The significant structure in the garden was the pavilion, with seating and an outdoor fireplace from HEAToutdoors, to take the chill off the cold nights.  The central foreground focus had a glass sculpture acknowledging the vital importance and qualities of water, the formative force within organic material essential for life.

HEAToutdoors was responsible for the raised kitchen garden which would offer a fistfull of herbs to be stuffed into fresh trout from the river and chopped up for pizza toppings in the prototype gas pizza oven.
